Blue Steak, Joho (Choho).
Tel: 087-152 1211.
Open daily.

Blue steak is a small restaurant in Joho but if you are around, try it and you won't be deceived. They also offer delivery, probably around the area. You can find the exact location of Blue Steak Restaurant on our google interactive map of Choho (Joho).

The place is located just beside Dr-Pizza and you will see a lot of BLUE! The menu include a mix of burgers, steaks, sandwiches, salad and even noodles.

The restaurant is not big but it's clean, good, cheap and quite nice if you want something quick and tasty.

The chef won some culinary awards in 2009. He proudly displays his large trophy in the restaurant with pictures of this event. You can see him beside the arrow, with a big red board. That competition was organized by Makro.

This is a chicken pepper sauce steak, for only 79 baht. The steak and sauce were excellent and quite large. The salad was nicely done with a Thai-Mayonnaise style salad dressing. For that price, it was really good.

Kitchen 9 X 9 restaurant, Korat.
Monkamontri road.
Tel: 089-968 1522

This is a new restaurant that opened around December 2009, located just beside PB restaurant on Mukkamontri road. You can easily find the placemark of PB restaurant on this map of Korat. The name Krua Gao Kun Gao means something like "kitchen 9 X 9".
We were told the owner studied hotel management in Switzerland and worked as a chef in big hotels in Thailand before deciding to open his place in Korat.
It would be difficult to classify if this is a foreign restaurant or Thai: most dishes are a mix of these 2 cuisines. The place is quite clean, brand new and offers a menu in English. There is a large TV with CDs or videos playing.

The place is an open air restaurant, with no walls, but a portion of the restaurant is under a roof. No problem if it rains.

The menu include a mix of Thai and foreign dishes at good price. The quality of the food is pretty good and presentation is nicely done. On this picture, you can see some red drops of rasberry sauce.

We had this chicken served with salad. The sauce was quite good, mixed of 'peanut' and 'curry'. The dressing salad, even if sweet as normal in Thai, was tasty. It was served with a bread and French fries (see below). For about 120 baht.

Ban Chaa 28/762 Pho Klang Rd, Nai Mueang, Korat ; Tel 081-0724261 GOOGLE EARTH PLACEMARK This delicious Thai vegetarian restaurant opened in the heart of Korat city, near the Ya Mo monument, in October 2009. From Ya Mo, give your back to the monument and enter the facing Pho Klang Rd, direction Maegimheng covered market. You will immediately see the yellow sign on the right side of the street, about 100 meters down the way. Notice the old city gate and Ya Mo monument in the background in the second photo below. You will always find several different servings to go with white rice, and other vegetarian specialities, including take away goods. Prices are very reasonable. Rice with two servings starts from 25 Baht. We had generous portions of vegetarian Masaman and Jub Chaai, as in the photo below, and enjoyed it very much. We can recommend this place as a good vegetarian restaurant in downtown Nakhon Ratchasima, almost adjacent the Ya Mo monument. Open everyday from 07:00 to 21:00. The owner and shopkeeper, Mr. Ban Chaa, speaks good English and is delighted to receive foreign guests and have a chat with them.

Baan Ta Wan, Restaurant in Nakhon Ratchasima
Bung Ta Lua Open from 10 am to 11 pm Tel: 044-957 111
(we will add the location soon. It's beside Kwan Ruen Resort, in front of Bung Ta Lua, on Rim Bung Road, I think).
Baan Ta Wan ("Ta Wan" means something like the sun, same as in "Ta Wan Deang". It 'Baan Ta Wan' it refers to a place where you can have a nice view of the sun, for example, at sunset because the restaurant is in front of the lake, Bung Ta Lua) is a good Thai restaurant in Korat. They serve all traditional Thai dishes, from Lap (minced meat in a Isaan style salad) to Tom Yam (Spicy Thai soup) or fried dishes, fish, fried rice, etc.
I used to go often there few years ago. The view is exceptional and the food, even after all these years, continue to maintain high standard with quality and taste.

The place has wooden furniture. Baan Tawan is a a two storeys building, near Kwan Ruen Resort. If you go on the street in front of Bung Ta lua, you won't miss it. There are few new bars in this area, like OZONE, a popular place at the moment.

The view is exceptional, especially on the second floor, with these tables. It used to be one of my favorite spots... and I still go there once in a while.

The restaurant has 2 private rooms. The other one has a Karaoke system.

This is the view from downstairs. Again, pretty nice on the lake.

Lap Phet (Minced duck in a kind of spicy Isaan salad). Only if you like spicy food.

This is just a part of the menu. There is English, but you might not fully understand.
"Keang" is a curry, for example. Yam, is a spicy Thai salad, Kung means shrimp.

This restaurant opens early and closes late. So you can enjoy lunch or dinner, in a beautiful setting.

Khao Man Gai Singapore in Korat
This place is located just beside Sri Vichai Hotel, on this map, location J. It's owned by a nice Thai man who used to live in Netherlands. He obviously speaks Thai, but also very well English and Dutch. It's even written in front: WE SPEAK ENGLISH AND DUTCH!

This is a typical small Thai restaurant but the food is excellent. I was recommended to go there by the owner of Bali restaurant, one great place in Korat. He told me that the Moo Krub (crispy pork) was excellent. I had Khao Man Gai (Chicken on rice) and it was a nice one. (picture below)

The front of the restaurant.

Beside the language, this restaurant is also special. He has spicy sauce as Hong Kong and Singapore style. Very tasty.

They are normally closed for dinner. But if you need a quick and good lunch, it's the perfect spot. Great location in the middle of Korat, good food, not expensive, and the owner is very nice.

This is the owner. Very friendly.

This was my meal, 52 baht all included. Chicken (he asked me if I wanted with the skin or not!) served on rice and banana leaf, soup, coca-cola, all sauces.

Bibi Restaurant in Korat
495 Pho Klang Amphur Muang, Nakhon Ratchasima 044-274-225
For the exact location, see our google interactive maps of restaurants.

The owner of Bibi restaurant is a native Pakistani and his Thai wife. It has nothing fancy, but can make good Thai meals for low prices. This restaurant is located near "Tak Ha" or "Ya Tek Ha" intersection. All people of Korat will know where is this intersection. Tek Ha is an old restaurant in Korat located on the corner of that intersection.

Few tables only inside the restaurant. You won't see much foreigners here!

Their menu has English and you can also see some of the dishes in front. The Pakistani owner doesn't speak English. And his Thai is not perfect! But it's funny, we can still communicate with him and he will be happy to serve new customers.

I didn't remember the name in Thai of this rice, but if you meet the owner, you just ask "biryani rice". It was something like "Khao Mok Gai". I had it today and seriously, it's one of the BEST rice I had. And I normally don't like rice... Chicken was fine, roasted chicken. "Khao Mok Gai" is muslim food according to Thais...

This is a picture of the front of the restaurant. It's not a very good picture... but this place serves honest food with honest price. If you want some special Indian Curry, Dal, Pakistani food, he can make it but you must tell him IN ADVANCE.

We also talked about that restaurant in our forum. Click here to see the topic.
