Eating out / Restaurants

RA BIENG GAO

284/3 T. Yomarat, Phone: 044-267765
This is a great restaurant. Nice ambiance, good prices, excellent food. Big parking behind. Try: YAM HUA PREE (Spicy thai salad with banana flowers)
KA MU (Pig’s leg)
And everything is good anyway. Google Earth

SUAN TIP

Beautiful restaurant near Royal Princess Hotel, with a lake, waterfalls, and lotus flowers. Very popular with Thai. Try the Pla Rai Gang (great fish with a mango sauce)

DOK MAI CAFE (Flower café)

One of the ‘hot spots’ to be seen in Korat. Beautiful waitresses, good food, sophisticated people. Nice garden, inside and outside tables. Quite large restaurant, with a parking a little further down the street. A kind of Golf kart will take you to the restaurant! Try Kai Tod Yot Ya. Fabulous fried chicken with a sweet lemon sauce served on fried spinach. Lab moo tod is also pretty good (meatballs of pork, deep friend, with a spicy sauce)..Google Earth

KIAU SAWOI KOREAN BBQ

There are many Korean BBQ in Korat but this one is, we believe, the best. You cook your own meat and vegetables on a small BBQ at your table. Chicken, pork, liver, seafood. Most tables are outside, some under a roof which is nice in the rainy season. It is located just beside a famous bar called BAN KORAT..Google Earth

KORATBURI

This is quite a nice restaurant, outside and inside, located just beside Bule's Saloon. They have English menu, a live band, a nice garden but you can also eat inside, with air conditionning if you prefer. We would recommand dishes like Pu Pak Pong Kali (Yellow Curry crab) or the beef with aThai pepper sauce.

Restaurant KoratBuri

KOH CHANG

2/6-7 Soi Seubsiri 3 Seubsiri Rd.
This estaurant opened in 2006, is just beside Blue Pavilion (recently closed). They serve GREAT seafood and the ambiance is relax. Prices are higher but quality is there. One of the best TOM YAM KUNG I had in my life…with a little coconut cream inside, yummy! Google Earth

BAN LAN LOOK MAI (ลานลูกไม้)

309 Soi Savai Lieng, Mukkhamontri Rd. (behind Tesco/Lotus), Phone: 044 253281
Excellent restaurant behind Lotus. Nice Issan hors d'oeuvres but I prefer the chicken cooked in banana leaves. English menu, BEAUTIFUL garden. Check your bill. Romantic places to take your "geik".Verify your bill...Google Earth

BAN LAN TA WAN

1469/8 Ded U Dom,rd T.Naimuang Nakorn Ratchasima
Nice view on the lake. Try to sit upstairs, to see the lake. Google Earth

BARISTA

This is a small coffee shop just in front of Osaka, on Suranaree street. They opened in 2008. They have good cakes and a wide selection of coffee, capucinno, etc. Wifi Internet. But the best is a very small menu, only few dishes, but very good value for the price. Example: Pork Steak, with rice, egg on top, and a soup, all that for 50 baht!

HUA PREE and SIP SONG PANNA

NIGHT BAZAAR SONG (Number 2)

There is a very nice night market selling all kinds of food beside the city gate called "Pollan" ("Pollan Batu") Most of items are 20 baht. Pad Thai are good, 20 to 30 baht. For eating, it is much better than the Korat Night Bazaar(#1). At #1, it is mostly for shopping cheap stuff.

DEE DEN ICE CREAM RESTAURANT

This is a very old restaurant in Korat located in the old city, not far from Klang Plaza 2. They have a very large selection of Thai dishes, Yam, Ka Praow, Ki Mao Kung, etc. Food is good, the place is clean and they have an English menu. It's a very popular spot for Thai people. Most of the dishes are between 40 and 80 baht. It's a very nice place to have a quick lunch or a cheap dinner. Google Earth

SARUNGKHAM

Eclectic mix of Thai and farang food including lovely pork steak, chicken roll, gaeng hanglei and about the only kao soi that you'll find in Korat. It's right at the entrance of Moo Baan Krung Thai, next to Kim Yik Haeng hardware and about 200 meters east of the nice outdoor Thai restaurant called Baan Rim Nam.

KURODA (Japanese restaurant)

213, Tanon Sapasit, Amphur Muang, 044 258 274. This is a beautiful and hidden place in Korat. Just in front of the main police station, in a small soi. Many clients there are Japanese people living in Korat. Outside, you will see that board:

This restaurant offers some of the best Japanese food in town. Click here to see pictures of this restaurant and get more information. They have a branch at Klang Plaza 2, 24 Tanon JOmsurangyarta, tel: 044-260 458.
