Activities

Golf courses (Comments are from a golfer living in Korat for more than 10 years)

Tiger Club, Wing 1.

Suranaree, Army base.
9 holes; rather boring because it's not long and almost all holes are played left to right. Gets far too crowded. Surly staff and some players not very friendly.

Rooks Korat.
18 holes. On the way to Pakthongchai. Best course in Korat, but unfortunately run by a company whose motto is "screw the Farangs".

Voyage Panorama, Si Kiew.
18 holes. A very good course, although a little on the short side.

Friendship Meadows, Pakchong

Pakchong Highland, Pakchong
Can't give you information on both these; for some reason I've never played them. I think Highland is meant to be better than Friendship.

Forest Hills (Sir James Lodge), Muaklek
18/27 holes. Excellent course, the only drawback being excessive wormcasts in the rainy season and excessive Koreans in the cool season.

Mission Hills, Khao Yai
18 holes. Good course, although recently in need of some maintenance. A bit on the short side.

Khao Yai Country Club, Khao Yai (not sure if it hasn't changed its name recently)
holes Jack Niklaus design; recently has taken itself way up-market with its prices.

Bonanza, Khao Yai
18/27 holes; very good course and good value

Sports Clubs

MS SPORTS CLUB

Enormous offer of brand new machines and many other facilities:
cycling studio room, yoga studio room, Sauna room, bathroom, locker room
cardio theater, massage possibilities, etc. It's after Big C, Makro, after Pegasus, stay on the left, cross the JET petrol station, then a seven eleven on a small street. You will see on your left a big shop (central) that sells building material. Next to this shop is the MS Sport Club.

FITNESS FIRST

Also brand new at The Mall (2008), on the third floor. It should open around August. They have a website at http://www.fitnessfirst.co.th. They are replacing the bowling and snooker place beside the MCC HALL. Tel: 044 393 600

CLUB 333

There is a fitness center at the SEA GAMES stadium. We were told that the facilities are quite nice and it cost about 500 baht per month. Sauna, parking and all facilities. You can also join the swimming pool and the tennis Courts for a small fee. More to come...

SUPER HEALTH FITNESS

Tel:044 242 2646/2647
That was the best place in Kort before the 2 new places above opened in 2008 (fitness first and MS sports Club opened). (Bung Ta Lua) Three floors of good and modern equipment. But they don't really have good lockers, showers, etc. Normally open from 6 am to 9:30 pm.

MOVIES

The Mall can show, sometimes, movies in English or with English subtitles. But rarely. Have a look here to see the current movies playing:
